• Since 2002 clean rooms are now classified according toan *** classification system. No longer terms such as 10 000 k or100 000 k are used to denote the maximum permitted number of particlesthat are to be found per cubic meter in a clean room “at rest”. Clean rooms andassociated controlled environments classification of air cleanliness replacesprevious standards. It use a system of *** classes 1-9,9 being the highest(worst) classification. One of the key differences in the new system is that itdoes not take account of particles above 5 um.
